- uses DPAP (a.k.a. "photo sharing")
- consists of daemon and preference pane
- daemon:
- listens on 127.0.0.1 and announces itself via Bonjour
- fetches rdf/xml feed in regular intervals (adjustable via preference pane)
- metadata cache can be updated externally (e.g. by an RSS aggregator) via AppleScript
